The 19th Annual Cadwalader Heights House Tour

The 2009 CADWALADER HEIGHTS HISTORIC HOUSE TOUR which took place on Saturday, 26 September, was a huge success.  Thanks to our 600 ENTHUSIASTIC VISITORS, TEN OPEN HOUSES, TEN PARTICIPATING RESTAURANTS, A SOLE CORPORATE SPONSOR, ONE EXCITED NONPROFIT,  and no fewer than 68 STEADFAST VOLUNTEERS for the day, we had an astoundingly exhilarating day here in the oft-maligned TRENTON.

This is not a new feeling for those of us who live and play in Cadwalader Heights, but  nonetheless it thrills us anew each year it happens.  To think that  so many of  you living in the TRI-STATE area and beyond come here, stand in line, purchase tickets, and visit us again and again boggles the mind.  WE ARE HONORED to be living in, renovating and restoring these historic houses that are surely among the best of the early 1900s,  and we proudly and thoughtfully continue to act as STEWARDS OF OUR MAGNIFICENT 102-year-old FREDERICK LAW OLMSTED-DESIGNED NEIGHBORHOOD.  Along with TRENTON'S lovely 100-acre CADWALADER PARK, also designed in the 1800s by Olmsted (while he was the preeminent landscape architect in the country), we are one of only a handful of such duos he designed in all of America.

We so enjoy sharing this rich history with you year after year, and we delight in your continued surprise that such a treasure exists here in TRENTON!  A number of our own neighborhood friends bought houses and live here because like you, they, too, visited during a HOUSE TOUR.

Cadwalader Heights is not the only such historic neighborhood in the capital city.  Others abound -- and yet what we read on the front pages of our local newspapers does not begin to display what is magical about LIFE IN TRENTON. Cadwalader Heights knows it, other fine neighborhoods know it, and now we are happy that YOU  KNOW IT.  (Spread the word!)

THANK YOU, all, for your presence is what made our 2009 Tour a spectacular one.  Our success was also dependent upon CAPITAL HEALTH SYSTEM, which sponsored our House Tour and offered give-aways and free blood pressure screenings to all of our guests; our neighbors and friends at the HISTORIC CADWALADER-ASBURY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, which once again graciously opened the doors for our registration; our NONPROFIT, HOMEFRONT, which continues to empower families in crisis and assists them back onto the road to independence; our COMMUNITY RESIDENTS for opening their homes or volunteering in a host of other ways; and our PARTICIPATING RESTAURANTS for their COMPLIMENTARY TASTES OF INTERNATIONAL CUISINES
