Message from the Founder

When TRENTON FIRST was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1994, the goal was the same as now: to help support city initiatives – especially those that stand to benefit our community in the future. Originally, it was all about scholarships for college-going
students and support for athletics: individuals seeking a springboard to further schooling.

Now the mission of TRENTON FIRST has broadened along with the range of work being done in Trenton at a grassroots level to improve homes, communities, and the lives of our citizens. As we wake up to the implications of global warming, we know we must act globally and nationally – and bring it home locally. We can move toward a new, sustainable city informed by the U.S. Conference of Mayors Climate Protection Agreement, the Clinton Climate Protection Initiative, Trenton Green, and the C40 Large Cities Climate Summit, among many other guideposts.

I invite you to join me in pressing forward with these efforts because, for our children’s sake, we all need to be on the right track.
